In a triumph for The Mail on Sunday at the 2008 British Press Awards, You and Live magazines were jointly awarded the Supplement of the Year accolade. Seeing off strong competition from Guardian Weekend, IoS Review, Sunday Times Magazine and The Culture, You and Live merited high praise from the judges:
“To publish one top quality colour magazine is a major achievement in itself but to publish two is a triumph. Both completely justify their presence by targeting brilliantly two different sectors of their readership.Strong production values, brilliant content and a real vision that adds enormous value to their host newspaper. Great writing, photography, design and a real sense of cohesiveness about each one. This is a groundbreaking pairing which wholly justifies the unusual decision to award the winners bouquet to both. The judges could not separate them.”
The positioning of the two brands as 'a magazine for her and a magazine for him’ and the success of our ‘Battle’ TV and cinema ad has clearly defined their role for both readers and advertisers. Their increasing reader appeal is an important element in maintaining The Mail on Sunday’s steady circulation performance
in the face of a declining market.
In addition, Diary editor Katie Nicholl was highly commended in the Showbiz category, Simon Fluendy in Business and Finance for his three-year expose of the Severn Trent water company and Jonathan Oliver both as Political Journalist and for his scoop revelation of Labour's 'donorgate' scandal.
